Young learners will love these letter V activities, games, and crafts. Use these ideas to craft an effective letter V lesson plan for toddler age through kindergarten.

Teaching the alphabet to kindergarten or pre-k requires creativity and variety. Letter V activities like these keep kids learning and on their toes during a letter learning unit.

Pack the Moving Van and Learn the Letter V

This inexpensive moving van activity helps kids with letter V recognition. Hand out paper lunch bags to each child and have him or her decorate it like a moving van, also labeling it with the letter V. Then let them browse magazines and collect pictures of things that might go inside a moving van, such as furniture, boxes, and household items. Put all their pictures inside the van and "close the door" with staples.

Teaching Letters to Toddlers with Vegetable Painting

Dip different vegetables in paint and use them to stamp on paper. This process fascinates young children and helps in teaching the alphabet to pre k and kindergarten students. Cut mushrooms, green peppers, or heads of lettuce in half for interesting shapes and patterns. Slice off the end of a carrot for a polka-dot stamp. Dip and roll a whole cob of corn across the page.

Kindergarten Activities on the Letter V: Violin Presentation

Violins begin with the letter V and have a unique sound. Listen to snippets of classical music and identify the violins. If possible, have someone come in to play. As a wrap-up letter V activity, stick music notes marked with the letter V on a violin printable coloring page.

Playing Balloon Volleyball

Balloon volleyball is a toddler-friendly version of regular volleyball. Kids take turns batting a balloon up in the air, with the goal of trying to keep it off the ground as it floats downward. Large groups of kids can use multiple balloons. Fun games based on the letter V keep kids' attention while still focusing on the letter V lesson plan.

Alphabet Crafts for Children: Vase Craft

A vase filled with a bouquet of colorful blooms marked with the letter V helps with alphabet recognition and lets kids get creative. Cover a tin can or frozen juice canister with blank paper and decorate; more ambitious teachers might help kids make vases out of papier mache.

While the vase is drying, kids can put pipe cleaner stems on cardstock flowers. In the center of each flower, they can write the letter V in glitter glue or affix pre-cut letter "V"s. Put styrofoam inside the vase and poke the pipe cleaners into it.

Incorporate these activities, ideas, games, and crafts on letter V in a classroom lesson plan on the letter V. Parents can also adapt them for home use to reinforce alphabet recognition and pre-reading skills.
