Lesson plans on the letter M can be imaginative and unique by incorporating some or all of these letter M crafts for preschool, kindergarten, or toddler age. Teaching the Letter M to Kindergarten by Playing StoreUsually, even toddlers can identify money. Most kids are familiar with the concept that money can be traded for goods or services. Teach that "money"begings with the letter M and reinforce this concept by playing store together with play money and cash registers. Encourage kids to count coins and give change to their customers. Play other money games to teach the difference between different kinds of coins and bills. Make a map of the classroom or the neighborhood, and have kids get to certain locations using the map as a guide. Younger children will be most interested in a "treasure map" that helps them find a small prizes like stickers or a notebook to keep. M is for "muffin tin." Display a mini muffin tin and explain that it's usually used to make muffins and cupcakes. But today the class is going to use them to make crayons! Spray cups with vegetable spray, fill each with broken crayons, and put in the oven at 275 degrees for 7-8 minutes. While the crayons are melting and cooling, explain that "melt" also starts with the letter M. Talk about why and how things melt. When the crayons are cool, use them to decorate letter M worksheets or practice writing the letter M and m. Teaching letter M to kindergarten and below can be a challenge.
